The practice of Massage Therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain. Deep tissue, relaxation, prenatal, postpartum, chronic or acute conditions - all can be booked under Massage Therapy. Your RMT will assess and tailor your treatment to each individual.

Massage Therapy

Prenatal and postpartum massage share many of the same benefits as a regular massage. With the constant changes happening with the pregnant woman’s body, there are many discomforts that massage can help to relieve: Back aches, Sciatic pain, Muscle tension through neck, shoulders and hips, Leg cramps, Swelling in legs, ankles, wrists, Headaches, Sore joints, Stress and anxiety. Massage therapy can help alleviate the postural discomforts of breastfeeding and caring for your newborn, as well as some of the physical discomforts after giving birth.

Prenatal/Postpartum 

Cupping helps to activate blood vessels in the muscles, increasing blood flow to a particular location. This blood flow has a significant effect on stiffened or weakened muscles, making it a great choice for athletes. Cupping has been known to be suitable for many other issues, such as increasing circulation, body aches, aiding the respiratory system, facial paralysis (Bell’s Palsy) and many other neuropathies. The suction formed by Cupping draws up the old non-circulating stagnant blood from the area, bringing them up to the surface and away from the injury so that healthy circulation can be restored to the affected area, thus creating space for oxygen, living cells and nutrients for faster recovery. Where there is dead, static blood, lymph, cellular debris, pathogenic factors, and toxins present in the body, Cupping can leave marks which indicates that the stagnation or disease has been moved from the deeper tissue layers to the surface.
